#ChrisHammer, author of best-selling crime novels #Scrublands (2018) and #Silver (2019) will be appearing in conversation at Tweed Heads, Ballina, and Goonellabah Libraries.

Before turning to #fiction, #Chris was a #journalist for more than thirty years, dividing his career between covering #AustralianFederalPolitics, and #internationalaffairs. He reported from more than thirty countries on six continents for SBS Australia. While in #Canberra, his roles included chief political correspondent for #TheBulletin, senior writer for #TheAge, and Online Political Editor for #Fairfax.

His book, Scrublands, won the 2019 #JohnCreasy ‘New Blood’ #Award for best first #crimenovel at the UK The Crime Writers' Association, #DaggerAwards. Chris has also written two non-fiction books, #TheRiver (2010) and #TheCoast (2012). The River won the ACT #BookoftheYearAward and was shortlisted for the #WalkleyBookAward.
