Louise King - Into the Dreaming

Louise King - Into the Dreaming
supported by Charlie Priest and Hayden Mears

About this Event

Louise King's solo cello show, INTO THE DREAMING offers listeners a glimpse into contemporary music for cello. Her show will be preceded by a recital of duets from top emerging musicians, Charlie Priest (flute) and Hayden Mears (bassoon).

Expand your musical horizons as Louise King takes you on a virtuosic collection of art music written in the last two decades for solo cello by Australian composers; poetic music inspired by place, space, and story.

Hear the evocative sounds of the bush, didgeridoo bowing, musical bird calls, the sounds of stars in the night-sky and the haunting summoning of spirits past. This collection of new music stretches beyond the rich body of work written for solo cello in the traditional Western art music canon. Enticingly modern, lovingly curated, INTO THE DREAMING offers listeners a glimpse into contemporary music for cello.

Hailed by The Australian as a ‘spell-binding musician who exudes a vigorous artistry’, English-trained and Australian-made cellist, Louise King, is an independent portfolio musician, a recording, concert and accredited teaching artist and an ABC classics recording artist.
